Get ready, movie lovers! The dynamic duo, Daniels – the creative minds behind the Oscar-sweeping Everything Everywhere All at Once – are back on Universal's radar! Their next project, currently untitled, is slated to hit theaters on November 19, 2027. But here's a twist: the release date has shifted. Originally, we were expecting it on June 12, 2026, but the calendar changed back in February.
This upcoming film marks the first collaboration between Daniels (Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert) and Universal since they signed a long-term deal in the summer of 2022. This agreement was inked just months before they became the hottest directors in Hollywood, thanks to the massive success of Everything Everywhere All at Once. The film not only snagged the coveted Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Original Screenplay Oscars but also raked in over $100 million against a modest $15 million budget. Talk about a return on investment!
Since then, the pair has been busy, including directing on the Star Wars TV series The Skeleton Crew.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter after their Universal deal, Daniels opened up about transitioning from the indie film scene to the world of big-budget studio filmmaking. Kwan shared, "We love to chase things that could almost be a catastrophe." Scheinert added, "We thrive on being told no, in moderation," and admitted, "I am nervous about having a budget that makes us not have those tough conversations." This raises an interesting question: Will the increased budget impact their creative process?
