Garlic Breadsticks Recipe - How to Make Garlic Breadsticks (1)

Garlic breadsticks or garlic bread are so easy to make and so buttery and yum. Many many moons ago; I made garlic rolls and my daughter, Nidhi loves them to them to bits and somewhere along; I forgot about them and so did Nidhi until yesterday.

This garlic breadsticks recipe is never fail and using instant yeast makes it more easier. I made this plain as I wanted the good ole flavor of salted amul butter and garlic to come out. You can sprinkle some grated cheese inside if you prefer.

The one thing I like about instant yeast is that there is no need for yeast proofing; but if you are using active yeast please read my post on how to proof yeast.

These are buttery garlic bread is a perfect after school snack.

Transfer the dough back to the bowl and drizzle some oil and coat the dough with oil. Keep in a warm place to proof (I like to keep in my oven) for 2 hours. Once it is proofed, lightly press it down so that the air is released and then flatten it to a rectangle shape on a baking mat or parchment paper lined baking sheet or pizza pan. Preheat oven to 180 degree C.

Meanwhile; grate 6 to 7 cloves of garlic and mix it with 3 tbsp of finely chopped coriander leaves. Melt 3 tbsp of salted butter and mix the garlic and coriander leaves. Paint the top of the flattened dough with this mix (I lavishly brushed the melted butter mix).

Fold the dough into half and press down the sides/seams so that the butter spread on the inside does not release out while baking. Again brush the melted butter mix lavishly on top. Lightly run a pizza cutter over it or you can lightly cut with a paring knife. Bake in preheated oven for about 30-35 mins or until the crust starts to brown lightly. Remove from oven and again brush the remaining melted butter mix on top. Serve warm.

INGREDIENTS

  • Flour: 1 1/2 cup
  • Instant Yeast: 3/4 tsp
  • Sugar: 1 tsp
  • Salt: 1/2 tsp
  • Oil: 2 tbsp (divided)
  • Lukewarm Water: 3/4 cup
  • Salted Butter: 3 tbsp, melted
  • Finely Chopped Coriander leaves: 3 tbsp
  • Garlic Cloves: 6-7 cloves, grated

METHOD:

  1. Warm about 3/4 cup of water (lukewarm). Add 1/4 cup of water into a large bowl and sprinkle 3/4 tsp of yeast over it. Add in sugar and oil and give it a stir.
  2. Add in flour and salt. Add rest of water little by little and mix with a spoon first and then with your hands knead into a dough. Add oil and again knead on the counter top for 1 minute.

Remove from oven and again brush the remaining melted butter mix on top. Serve warm.

NOTES

  • Water should be lukewarm; if it is too hot the yeast will die.
  • You can add grated cheese after you brush melted butter.
  • Instead of coriander leaves, you can use parsely
  • I used salted butter as it gives a nice salty taste.
  • Since I live in tropical Kerala; my dough proofed in about 2 hours; it may wary if you are living in a cold region.

So, do not skip black pepper when taking turmeric. All the ingredients I used in this homemade turmeric tea mix are locally acquired and organic. curcumin/turmeric is fat soluble so it is also a good option to have a warm cup after a heavy meal. studies shows that turmeric can prevent cancer, h
